John Fread has over 20 years in the software consulting business. During this time, he has served as a Developer, Software Architect, Project Manager, Business Analyst, and Director of Application Development.
In 2003, John co-founded Logical Advantage. John has assisted many clients in realizing their business vision, successfully translating their vision into a solution utilizing software. John specializes in the delivery of large, enterprise level software applications. Many of these projects have included the implementation of software packages and complicated system integration projects, as well as full custom developed solutions.
Today, John is the company's Chief Operating Officer and is ultimately responsible for ensuring that all projects are delivered on time, on budget, and exceed the clients' expectations for quality and content. John graduated from Purdue University. He serves as an advisor to many organizations, including the U.S. Chamber of Commerce's Council on Small Business, in addition to serving on the Board of Advisors for the North Carolina Technology Association.
John is the founder of the Charlotte Regional Technology Talent Taskforce. The formation of this Taskforce led directly to the creation of the Charlotte Branch of IT-oLogy, where John currently serves as a board member. John is a member of the Entrepreneurial Leadership Circle of the McColl School of Business at Queens University of Charlotte and is also a committee member for the NC Department of Revenue Public-Private Partnership Program.
Dan graduated summa cum laude from North Carolina State University with dual degrees in Electrical Engineering and Computer Engineering. Dan attended NC State on a full scholarship program with General Motors.
After working with GM, Dan served as Application Development Director for the largest Microsoft Business Solutions Partner in the Carolinas. During this time, Dan's team won two Microsoft Pinnacle awards.
For the past 10 years, as Co-Founder and Chief Technology Officer of Logical Advantage, Dan has successfully architected and delivered web-based and mobile applications for many Fortune 500 companies.
Dan focuses his energies on emerging technologies and ensuring that all projects are structured to meet the client's current and future needs. Dan collaborates with his Chief Solutions Officer and other architects to create technical standards, including coding standards, tools, and platforms. He holds a leadership role in the local Microsoft Enterprise Developer's Guild and has been on the steering committee for over a dozen years.
When Dan is not being CTO, he is building cool stuff and writing articles about it. Last year, Dan’s articles and videos accumulated around a quarter of a million views.
John Blomberg is the founder and co-founder of multiple startups, driven by a passion for starting and scaling tech businesses that solve client problems.
In 1999, John helped found INSite Business Solutions, a custom software company whose primary focus was developing Internet-based solutions and SaaS products for clients. In 2016, Logical Advantage acquired INSite’s custom programming division, and John Blomberg entered his new role as Chief Consulting Officer at Logical Advantage.
John has Fortune 500 sales and technology experience with Sea-Land Service/CSX and 20 years of tech project and strategy work for a variety of clients, including the following: BASF, Continental Tire, KUKA Systems, Eckerd Drug, Caterpillar, the National Trust for Historic Preservation, the Daniel Group, Caterpillar, and Europa Sports.
He is a Board member of the prestigious “Entrepreneurial Leadership Circle” at Queens University and a member of Entrepreneurs' Organization (EO). John holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in International Relations and Business from The Citadel and an MBA from Queens University of Charlotte.
Marty Elvidge has over 25 years of experience delivering solutions over a range of different technologies and environments. He has over 15 years experience in consulting services. The environments include embedded systems, enterprise systems and Internet solutions. The technologies included Microsoft .Net, J2EE, and open source platforms and frameworks as well as C/C++/ASM in embedded solutions.
Marty has an Associates in Specialized Technology in Electrical Engineering and a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Information Systems.
Marty has worked in many roles throughout his career including Engineer, Senior Applications Developer, Application Development Manager, and has been a Solutions Architect for 15+ years.
At Logical Advantage Marty is responsible for the architecture and implementation details of the solutions that are delivered. Ensuring that the solutions meet the business need and are built in a fashion that provides maintainability and future extensibility. In addition he is responsible for researching new tools and technologies and continually looking for ways to improve the delivery process and quality of the resulting solutions.
When Marty is not delivering solutions for Logical Advantage he is tinkering with other technologies, presenting at industry groups, coaching volleyball, and training in martial arts.

Carolyn Hewett brings people and technology together to deliver the innovative and robust solutions for which Logical Advantage is known.
For over 20 years, Carolyn has provided successful technology solutions across many industry sectors, including healthcare, banking, and supply chain. Throughout her career as an IT professional, she has been instrumental in creating a Project Management Office (PMO) for a multi-billion dollar enterprise, managed the day-to-day PMO operations, formed vision and strategic direction, trained IT professionals, and delivered IT solutions to a diverse client base.
As Consulting Solutions Manager, Carolyn provides leadership to the Logical Advantage development team by ensuring solutions meet quality standards and follow proven development methods, quality assurance processes, and unit tests. First and foremost, she strives to achieve the highest level of performance and customer satisfaction in order to ensure strong, lasting relationships with her clients.
Carolyn holds an Executive MBA from Queen’s University and graduated Summa Cum Laude from Campbell University with a BS in Math.
When not providing industry leaders with cutting edge IT solutions, Carolyn is passionate about improving the lives of individuals through coaching and mentoring. She has a strong commitment to worthy organizations such as Charlotte Works, an organization that develops and connects individuals to jobs within the community, and Tri It for Life, an organization that inspires and trains women for their first triathlon.
Greg Smith brings over 25 years of experience building successful sales teams and recruiting teams. His energy is boundless and he takes pride in providing creative solutions to his clients. Greg began his career as an Executive IT Recruiter working both sides of the desk. His innovative and out-of-the box approach quickly moved him into management roles. Greg has a proven track record of building successful businesses in the IT arena. Greg is a strong leader with a desire for everyone to be successful.
Greg holds a BA degree in Marketing from Marshall University.
Greg has a passion for giving back to the community. He serves on the Board of Directors for Nevins, Inc. where the vision of the organization is to improve our society and workplace culture through community-based employment of adults with developmental disabilities.
Each year, Logical Advantage selects multiple organizations that are important to our staff. These include organizations that are supported by our staff or have supported our staff directly. Rather than sending gifts to our clients during the holidays, we make donations to these organizations on their behalf.
