Last October, Charlotte hosted its first-ever Mini Maker Faire at Discovery Place. The event attracted 3,500 people and was such a success that we’re bringing it back again this year!
The Charlotte IoT booth will be even bigger than last year’s and will feature all of the latest maker projects; guests can see for themselves why Charlotte IoT has grown to 800 members is less than two years.
This year, we’re hoping to have at least 30 projects to share with you, as well as a variety of hands-on activities and prizes. Because this is an October event, guests can also expect to be spooked by some of our past Halloween IoT projects, like software skeletons written with Microsoft Kinect and other Halloween monsters.
We will also be leading a variety of activities and workshops, offering guests hands-on training they need to build their own IoT projects.
IT-ology and Logical Advantage will be teaming up to teach kids to solder and will be giving away 45 Rocket Badges, valued at around $600.
Rob Skoon, our hands-on lab coordinator, will be leading a hackathon with the intel Edison and the grove Starter Kit (shown below).
Thanks to Intel and Hackster.io, we will be giving away $400 in prizes for the hackathon!
Join us on October 8th at Discovery Place from 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. If you’re interested in learning more about how everyday “things” can become smart, trust us—you don’t want to miss this event. Visit the official event page online at http://cltmakerfaire.org/ for more information.Go Back
