2016 has been quite a year for Logical Advantage. Here are a few of our favorite memories!
We started the year by celebrating the continued growth of our Charlotte IoT Meet-Up group. At that point, we had just reached 500 members, and now we’re proud to announce that we’re quickly approaching the 1,000 mark. Charlotte IoT welcomes members every day, and if you haven’t yet joined, do it now!
We opened up about open source code in February, by sharing that five of Logical Advantage’s team members have contributed to the open source community. We even provided a full list of repositories here.
March was an exciting month, as we were busy preparing to attend the inaugural Analytics Frontiers Conference. As a matter of fact, Dan Thyer, our CTO and Co-Founder, delivered a panel IoT discussion at the very same conference, where he was also a featured member of the panel!
Logical Advantage again sponsored the Blue Diamond Awards in March (and had multiple employees serve on various committees). Somewhere around 500 attended this event!
In April, we helped facilitate a meeting with the Charlotte SIM chapter titled “The Leading Digital Disruption Series SIM Intrapreneur Program,” which welcomed over 50 attendees.
On Saturday, April 16th, Discovery Place hosted STEMlympics, an event focused on how STEM is being used in the Charlotte area; this event featured hands-on activities and special demonstrations. In addition to facilitating STEM workshops, Logical Advantage gave away eight Raspberry Pis at this event!
In May, we…
In May, we attended the East Coast Game Conference. Bringing in around 2,000 attendees, this year’s event was held from April 19th – 21st, and our very own Dan Thyer was welcomed to speak as a session leader and Microsoft MVP.
June was, hands down, one of our favorite memories from 2016 because in June, we welcomed INSite Business Solutions to our team! Our organizations offered similar services to our clients, and we knew that we’d be better together. This partnership has enabled us to provide better and more extensive services to our clients, while also providing new opportunities for our employees.
Also in June, the LKN and Ballantyne CIO Roundtable groups held the first joint meeting at Panther Stadium. These two groups came together for this joint event. (As many of you know, co-founder John Fread chairs the LKN group.)
This month, Logical Advantage participated in the STEMersion Event, at which John Fread participated on a panel of entrepreneurs discussing careers in IT.
Much of July was all about IoT, but isn’t it always? At the start of July, we shared our thoughts on Queen City IoT Day, an event for individuals excited about IoT and the influx of connected devices. Our Atmel mobile showroom was a huge success, and over 100 people attended the event.
Also in July, several of our team members began serving on the planning committees for the 2017 Blue Diamond Awards.
On Tuesday, August 2nd, 2016, a major event occurred for Charlotte’s tech community. This day marked the first time NC RIoT was hosted in Charlotte. Talk about a big deal! The Logical Advantage team played a hands-on role in ensuring RIoT was a successful event for all involved, and we were excited to announce that Charlotte IoT is now an official chapter of NC RIoT!
We announced our involvement in the second annual Mini Maker Faire at Discovery Place. Our booth was even bigger than the year before and featured all of our latest maker projects. Guests saw for themselves why Charlotte IoT has grown to nearly 1,000 members is less than two years! In addition to our projects, we also had a variety of hands-on activities, workshops, and prizes.
At the start of October 2016, John Fread and the Logical Advantage team were named the National SIM Winner of the inaugural STEM Award for Corporate Catalyst. On October 25th, 2016, at the national SIMposium event at the Mohegan Sun in Connecticut, John Fread accepted the award, which was given on behalf of SIM’s STEMOutreach Program. Congratulations to John Fread, Dan Thyer and the entire Logical Advantage team on this amazing accomplishment!
And on October 20th, we sponsored the Ballantyne IT Professionals Golf Tournament. Over 100 IT professionals attended this fundraiser for charity!
We talked about All Things Open! At the end of October, Dan Thyer, CTO and Co-Founder of Logical Advantage, attended All Things Open 2016 in Raleigh, where he presented on one of his very favorite topics: Internet of Things. His presentation interested many, so many, in fact, that the room was filled to its maximum capacity.
Here we are now, in the last month of 2016. And although this certainly won’t be the last time you hear from us this year (who are you kidding!), we wanted to take this time to thank you for yet another wonderful year. We can’t wait to see what 2017 brings!Go Back
